How to Install Your PillowWeight
Two ways to install. Both take about a minute.
A PillowWeight is a hidden, soft textile insert that anchors inside your outdoor pillow cover and keeps the pillow from blowing away. It installs with a fastener system we engineered to lock in and stay put. Here is how it works, and the two surfaces you can anchor it to.
One minute, the whole install, start to finish.
See how the strips go on, how the weight bonds inside the cover, and how the pillow looks once it is anchored.
Filmed in 4K. Just over a pound, distributed across 16 internal sections so it lies flat and stays invisible from above.
A fastener system that locks in and stays.
Every PillowWeight has four hook-fastener squares, one in each corner, and ships with four matching strips. Each strip is a baby-soft loop fastener bonded to a professional-grade transfer adhesive. You marry the two, then bond the weight to the inside of your cover.
1. Soft loop, meet hook
Press one strip onto each of the four hook squares on the weight, soft side down. That leaves the strong adhesive side facing up and ready to bond.
2. Bond to the cover
Center the weight, adhesive side down, on the inside of your pillow cover and press firmly. The four corners anchor it flat and square.
3. It is not going anywhere
The PillowWeight will not shift or slide. The hook-and-loop lets you lift the weight off later to launder the cover, while the strips stay bonded in place.
Built to stay: the soft loop fastener pairs with a professional-grade performance adhesive engineered to bond textile to fabric and hold. Once it cures, your PillowWeight sits exactly where you placed it, gust after gust, season after season.
Same system. Two surfaces you can anchor to.
The fastener system works the same way either way. The only choice is which interior surface you bond the weight to, and that comes down to how your cover is cut.
Anchor it to the cover
Bond the weight to the rear interior of the pillow cover
Turn the cover inside out and bond the weight to the back inside wall of the cover itself.
- Pulls the looser areas of the cover tighter around the insert
- Gives an even, taut, perky presentation
- Distributes the weight evenly across the back of the pillow
- Works beautifully on covers that are slightly relaxed or generously cut
Good for: most outdoor pillows, and any cover that is a touch loose around the insert.
Anchor it to the insert
Bond the weight to the rear of the pillow insert
Bond the weight to the back of the pillow insert itself, then slide the insert into the cover as one piece.
- The most seamless, invisible installation of the two
- Nothing bonds to the decorative cover at all
- The weight travels with the insert, so the pillow holds its exact shape
One note: we suggest this method only for perfectly fitted pillow covers. On a loose or oversized cover, anchoring to the insert lets the cover drift around the weight, so Method 1 will look better there.
Good for: tailored, true-to-size covers where the insert fills the cover completely.
Both methods hold exactly the same way in the wind. We don't push one over the other, it is simply about the look you want and how your particular cover is cut.
Installing in about a minute.
One thing to remember: leave the bond undisturbed and don't wash for 72 hours so the transfer adhesive can fully cure. After that, it is set for the long haul.
Hidden, soft, and locked in.
A quick note for safety: PillowWeights are not a toy. Do not cut open. Keep away from children and pets if the shell is damaged. Use only inside outdoor pillow covers, and discontinue use if the shell is ever torn or leaking. Inspect the cover and insert periodically. Fits the most common throw-pillow sizes, from 12" x 12" to 20" x 20" and rectangular sizes within that range.
